Bush's complex

I just came up with an interesting theory. Bush wants to be the next FDR. If you look at everything happening, it kinda makes sense. Here's the low-down:

FDR was elected president four times during the course of WW2 in which the US got involved because of a massive attack costing thousands of American lives. It was a war that effectively changed the way the world worked and viewed itself. It also catapulted the United States from a 3rd rate military power (it was equal to Columbia or some other poor country at the time) to a world superpower. FDR also created the "New Deal", an abitious social program that would be the base of Democrats for the next 60 years.

Now look at Bush: He was president when Sept. 11 happened, costing thousands of American lives that launched a war on terrorism that is even now changing how the world works. It is a war where the US is again trying to lead the world against a common enemy. Now Bush is trying to create a new "New Deal" by changing the definition of social security.

However, there are differences that affect the outcome of Bush's FDR complex. First of all, FDR was damned smart. He didn't rely on yes-men and actually led the country in a thoughtful manner, not the brashness that Bush and his supporters are so proud of. Another difference is that FDR relied on people to run his war and policies, not god.

Finally is the execution of Bush's plans. FDR ran the country based on a simple concept: logic. It was logical to create the a social security system not based on the stock market, considering that the stock market was the cause of the great depression that necessitated the need for a New Deal. It was logical to start a war with a country that just crippled an entire fleet.

However, Bush's logic is FUBAR. He started a war on shady intelligence which was a result of the culture of "give us what we want" at the White House. He wants to revamp a program based on the stock market, the cause of the great depression. His "ownership society" only gives ownership of our money to some stock market brokers. His "culture of life" is a basket full of shit.

Bush is trying hard to become the next FDR. Unlike FDR, Bush will be known in history as an aweful leader full of bullshit ideas and bad leadership. Of course FDR did a lot of shady stuff, but his positive points greatly outweight his negatives. However, Bush's negatives greatly outweight his positives. "Leadership" is nothing without results and results are severly lacking. We don't have Osama and we only have Saddam...who we probably got because he was easier to find and didn't have nukes.

One of the things I keep on hearing about during this Pope election is that the new Pope will have to deal with the problem of a lack of priests entering the ...whatever it's called. Anyhoo, I have a solution to this little problem:

Allow women priests.

Here's an observation I made based on Christian Theology (with according punctuation):
First, let's define Sin as the unfulfillment of God's will and committing any Sin will send you to Hell.
Next, I state that one part of God's will is to spread the Word of God as described in the Bible.
So now, let's also state that fulfilling God's will by spreading the Word of God is dependent on the other party accepting said Word.
Then, the observation is made that some people will never accept the Word of God as anything more than a depressing fairy tale.
Finally, the conclusion: By not being able to convert atheists, agnostics and freethinkers in general, all Christians will always fail in their mandate from God and thus, will always go to Hell. In essense, being Christian guarantees you will go to Hell.
Of course, this argument is dependent on the stipulations that I've made above...but those stipulations aren't a very big stretch.
So much for the unerring message of the Bible.

Great idea...I think

I just thought of this great idea for a series of propaganda posters for the US where it shows various professions (civil servants, firefighters, policeman, scientists, engineers, medical personnel) in a heroic WW2 type pose and having the headline, "There's more than one way to protect America." It'd probably be great because it can be used as an educational tool and a way to promote the science/engineer/medical trades and inspire discussion in school.

Of course, I would advocate a different headline that reads, "Get the fuck out of the way fundies; We'll protect America." =)

Eric Rudolph...

Recently, Eric Rudolph was sentenced to life in prison for bombing the 1996 Olympics, 2 abortion clinics and a gay nightclub...which unlike some people calling for the death penalty, I'm happy about. At least in prison, he gets to take it up the ass for the rest of his life.

But, in his recent "manefesto," he said, "Because I believe that abortion is murder, I also believe that force is justified ... in an attempt to stop it."

In keeping with his Biblical world view, I suggest an "eye for an eye" approach to his call for violence. For every abortion clinic bombed, a church will be destroyed. For every gay person or clinic worker killed, a prominent Fundy will be shot in the head.

Now...aren't you glad you don't live in a Christian nation?

Saying Grace?

I've always believed that saying grace to thank god for your meal was disingenuous (not to mention a waste of time) because when you say grace, you're not thanking those who're truly responsible for getting your food to your table, such as farmers, truck drivers, processors, grocery store staff, etc.

On that line of thought:
Because saying grace is disingenuous, and possibly dishonest because people know that farmers grow the food, then is saying grace a sin? Probably not, since sin is a stupid concept anyway, but it still doesn't change the fact that saying grace is disingenuous.
